What can I say about Dynamics GP vs. Business Central Homepage?

Dynamics GP (Great Plains) and Business Central are both powerful ERP solutions developed by Microsoft, but they serve different segments of the market and have different feature sets. Here's a comparison of their homepages:

• Limited Web Access: Dynamics GP's homepage may be accessed through a web browser, but the interface is more tailored to desktop applications.

Business Central Homepage:

Dynamics GP Homepage

Some GP users are still using the navigation bar on the top to click on Transactions, Inquiry, Reports, Cards to open their desired windows.  Some users are more comfortable in using the home navigation on the left for each module to show the navigation tiles on the right.  In this example is Sales module displaying all available windows related to Sales.

Once you login to GP, the default date is the system date.  To change it, please click on the date on the lower left of the screen and it will open the User Date window for you to select your desired date to be used in your transaction entry and then click Ok. That is called Work Date in Business Central.

The Company you currently login is showing on the lower left. Click it to change user or to switch company. 

In your Quick Links, you can add Dynamics GP Window, Web Page, External Program (.exe file) or any External file.

We do have ROLES as well in GP.  Roles will make the navigation list available and action bar more personalized for you.

Let me translate this Navigation Bar for you if you're coming from Dynamics GP.  Here's the secret!!! You will need to let go of your traditional navigation tiles of Cards, Transaction, Inquiry, Reports in GP.  In Business Central these are blended together.  What does that mean? It means you can be in a Customer Card window and be able to do all these navigations.  Would that save you time? Absolutely! At the end of the day, you got fewer clicks.

Click on Settings >> My settings to be able to change your Work Date (User Date) that will show in your Transaction Entry as default and optional to change your role.
